Pacific crossing Part 3
Record-breaking monster current, pizza party on the Pacific, fish that are far too strong and a lot of unspectacular vegetating.
We spend 31 days on the Pacific without setting foot on land. Four people, 4150 nautical miles, one boat. Every 24 hours (always at midday) we recorded the distance travelled  (Etmal) in nautical miles and the average speed in knots, as well as taking a crew photo of the day. Come with us on our adventure!
Day 15
The night with our light wind sail "Simi" passes very quickly and calmly. We have muesli for breakfast and then do a round of sport! David aka Dings aka Minister of Gains is our personal coach. A bucket shower and a leftover meal later, we take a long siesta. The day is going great, we are making good progress. The wind picks up in the late afternoon and we take Simi down. Thierry bakes apple pie. We set the clock back an hour and are now officially living in our own time zone...
Etmal:Â 150 nm, average speed: 5.8 kn

Day 16
The night is a bit bumpy, a big cloud brings a lot of wind for about an hour. After a chilled morning, Thierry makes couscous salad with halloumi for lunch. Then there's a quick clean-up and the first highlight of the day: something has been stinking to high heaven in the cockpit for days and today we found the dried-up little squid... 🦑 The second highlight is a new Cervino record: with an Etmal of 170 nm, we were faster than ever before. In the evening we eat Älpler macaroni with beetroot and cabbage salad.
Etmal: 170 nm, average speed: 7.1 kn

Day 17
2000nm lie behind us! Captain Thierry wakes us up with sailor music and OJ and we first have to dance. After muesli, we chill out and Thierry makes pizza dough for the evening pizza party. We eat leftovers from the previous evening for lunch and in the afternoon we break the half-time barrier - yupiiiiiii! Unfortunately, I lose our bucket in the shower, but we collect it again with a skilful bucket-overboard manoeuvre. We start our pizza party in the late afternoon, because it lasts 😉 14 pizzas and about 5 hours later we are full but happy and hit the hay 😊
Etmal: 161 nm, average speed: 6.7 kn

Day 18
We are finally in the current: 1.5 - 2 knots push us and we make great progress. We all have a bit of an urge to move and do something. We have wraps for lunch. In the afternoon we take it easy until the fish action starts: We catch a nice wahoo, but unfortunately find a few worms and black meat when gutting it and so it goes back into the sea... Later something bites again, but unfortunately we lose it just before the boat. Unfortunately, that's the way it is with fishing.... We eat mustard party à la Dings & Bums. And so our second record-breaking day comes to an end.
Etmal: 180.2 nm, average speed: 7.5 kn

Day 19
The wind shifts a little during the night and we have to change the sails to avoid going off course. So we set sail in the morning and continue in the butterfly. We put on our speed outfits to be more wind-slippery. Maybe we'll manage to catch up with our buddy boat Tarpan, which we've been seeing on the tablet since yesterday? We catch a second wahoo, this time without worms, and have a delicious fish crisp for lunch. In the afternoon, some monster fish pulls THE WHOLE LINE off our line and disappears into the depths. We are shocked and a little depressed. Finally, a bonito bites and we eat sashimi, summer rolls and fish soup for dinner.
Etmal: 161 nm, average speed: 6.7 kn

Day 20
The wind has died down, it's Simi Time again!!! Afterwards we celebrate a monster brunch with delicious bread, listen to music and just chill out all morning. In the afternoon we do some laundry and clean the boat a bit. Shortly before sunset, a few whales swim past us, and possibly a shark or something else with a large dorsal fin... For dinner, we have Asian noodle soup with sesame-coated tuna (also known as zebra tuna 😊). There's not much wind forecast for the next few days, so we head off into the night with Simi.
Etmal: 155 nm, average speed: 6.4 kn

Day 21
It's a calm and rather slow night, the wind has become quite weary. Time for a bit of exercise and a bucket shower. Our fishing rod buzzes again, but we've never caught a fish like this before: it has a big hole in its belly! Looks like Mr Sharky might have nibbled on something there... We eat leftover Asian noodles with fresh cevice for lunch. In the afternoon we chill out, and in the evening Thierry and I cook a tuna, potato and pumpkin pie with salad, mmmmmmh!
Etmal: 153 nm, average speed 6.4 kn

Review week 3
Nautical miles travelled: 1,142 (total: 2,824)
Of which with motor: 0h (total: 81h, 16%)
Average speed: 6.8 kn
Now it's here, the last week of the Pacific crossing. How high the waves will get and who will win the Pacific Race?
